Andhra Pradesh prepared to face Covid-19: Official

Vijayawada: Health commissioner J. Nivas has said that Andhra Pradesh is fully geared up to face Covid-19 as they have strengthened all requisite infrastructure and manpower to deal with the situation.

In a statement here on Wednesday, the senior health official said that  out of 30,000 samples tested for Covid-19 from November onwards, only 130 cases were found to be positive and added that all the cases turned out to be Omicron variant.

He said that they were having genome sequencing lab to carry out tests to find out Covid-19 variants in addition to having as many as 20 labs to test Covid samples.

He stated that they were also having oxygen and ICU beds ready in all the government hospitals in addition to keeping adequate stocks of rapid testing kits, medicines and other requisites.

He also said that YSR health clinics were also prepared to meet any issue that arises if Covid-19 spreads.
