Vijayawada: There is a great opportunity for migrant workers, employees, and students of Andhra Pradesh living abroad as the government of Andhra Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is offering a 50% premium subsidy on the Pravasandhra Bharosa Bima insurance scheme provided by the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society, an entity of the AP Government. Venkat S. Medapati, president, APNRTS, and P. Hemalatha Rani, CEO, APNRTS, have announced that NRTs can now enrol in the PBB scheme at discounted rates from December 26, 2023, to January 15, 2024, and are requested to utilise this opportunity.

Venkat said that the Pravasandhra Bharosa Bima (PBB) insurance scheme is one such welfare service for NRTs and their family members. He explained that employees, migrants, workers, drivers, housemaids, helpers, and others working in various fields can enrol for just Rs 275 with coverage for 3 years, and NRT students can enrol for free with coverage for 1 year. He further explained that the government of Andhra Pradesh will cover 50% of the employee PBB premium (previously Rs 550 for 3 years) and 100% of the student premium (previously Rs 180 for one year), considering the security of NRTs and their family members.

Mentioning the benefits of the PBB insurance scheme, Venkat said that Rs 10 lakh financial assistance in case of accidental death or permanent disability, medical expenses for injuries or sickness of up to Rs 1 lakh, and maternity expenses of up to Rs 50,000 for female employees will be covered. Venkat informed APNRTS coordinators about the bulk donor concept for the PBB, allowing donors to enrol migrant workers in bulk at a discounted premium, especially in GCC countries. He encouraged coordinators to promote this information rigorously among NRT groups and organisations, motivating potential donors.

Hematha said for enrolling in the Pravasandhra Barosa Bima insurance scheme, NRTs can contact the APNRTS 24/7 Helpline at +91-863-2340678 or Whatsapp +91-8500027678, log in to the website at https://www.apnrts.ap.gov.in/index.php/home/insurance_new, or mail us at insurance@apnrts.com; helpline@apnrts.com.
