KANNUR: Kannur Vigilance wing has registered a case against a teacher and two judges of the Kuchupudi HSS category competition based on the quick verification report. The vigilance found valid evidence against the accused in the complaint filed by a candidate’s mother. The complaint filed by a Kuchupudi participant from Alappuzha stated that Anshad Azees, a Kozhikode-based dance teacher, manipulated the results by influencing the judges. The vigilance has found preliminary evidence against judges Guru Vijayashankar and Vedanthamouli for colluding with the teacher. The case has been registered for conspiracy and corruption.
According to the complainant, the teacher revealed the results of the competition to the complainant two hours in advance of the official declaration. She added that Anshad Azees had earlier asked the participant to be his disciple and warned that refusing to do so would cost her the prize. She added that the teacher revealed the names of the judges much in advance and the same persons came as judges.In the Kuchipudi competition, as many as 45 students took part and the complainant’s daughter got 41th place with judges giving her less than 70 percent marks. However, she was the first in the district level and in a higher appeal, the student got an A grade at state-level. It is learnt that the Vigilance team has demanded the judgment documents and video footage of the competition for further inquiry.
