Kerala: Paytm plans to invest Rs 500 crore in 2018

According to Tom, the company is having 100,000 merchant base in Kerala at present.

Paytm has updated its app to launch India's first APP POS, which will democratise digital payments.

Kochi: Paytm plans to invest Rs 500 crore in 2018 to conduct merchant training and awareness creation about the digital payment platform.  Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Paytm regional head Tom Jacob said the company is now having a customer base of 300 million and the same is growing rapidly with the introduction of QR code system. 

According to Tom, the company is having 100,000 merchant base in Kerala at present. “We are targeting to increase the merchant base in the state to 500,000 soon”, he added. On the Paytm imposing a fee for transaction he said at the moment the company is focusing on building the customer base than generating revenue.
