KHAMMAM: Minister for Education Sabita Indra Reddy said that the government will complete the X standard exam process by May 31. She said that Covid-19 had its effect even on the education sector.

A plan has been evolved pertaining to completion of the academic year for classes, including conducting exams and results, she said.

She said that officials of the education department were asked to conduct classes with the prior consent of the parents. The health of students is more important and attendance was not the criteria in the present context. She pointed out that officials had informed that parents themselves had sought reopening of schools.

She said that sanitation and cleaning of school premises had started and they would be ready by January 25. She said that a healthy and clean environment will be created in the schools.

Health of 80 lakh students in the state is most important for the government. She said that online classes will continue along with physical classes. She said that 92 per cent of students are attending online classes in Khammam district.

She said that a decision of commencement of classes 6 to 8 would be taken after seeing the progress of IX to Intermediate classes. She said that students need not worry about their academic year.

Referring to the hostel rice that was rotten, she said that the government will replace them with new rice. There would be a thrust on quality food in hostels.

She inaugurated KGBV schools in Lachagudem in Chintakani, Lingagudem in Konigerla, Raghunathapalem, Bonakal, Mudigonda and Kusumanchi.
