Election Commission apps to smoothen poll processes

Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission has introduced various e-governance initiatives for ensuring smooth, efficient and transparent election process. They include Android apps for different purposes.

Samadhan public grievance redressal system receives complaints in multiple modes - online, toll-free number 1950, email, mobile app, fax, posts or SMS. It enables online processing and tracking.

Suvidha is a single window system for candidates and political parties to apply for permissions for meetings, rallies, vehicles, temporary election office, loudspeakers, helicopters and helipads. They will get permissions in 24 hours.
Sugam is a vehicle management system with a facility to issue requisition letters for vehicles, capturing their details with address, mobile number and bank details of owner and driver, and transfer of vehicles from one district to another.

Besides these, it has developed some apps like Matdata for voters to search electoral rolls and polling stations, Matdaan for monitoring polling stations, Elecom for election news and press releases and E-counting for trends and results.

SMS poll monitoring is used for collection of various types of information through SMS from presiding officer and sector officer. Public grievance redressal system (PGRS) will provide a single window common interface to the citizens for submitting their complaints. It will forward the complaints to appropriate authority and keep the user informed about its progress. A call centre will also be there.
