Embarkation point for Haj pilgrims to start in Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister BS Amzath Basha said on Tuesday that AP is the only state to implement the sub-plan for minorities. “The YSR Congress government is working for the welfare and development of the minorities,” he stressed.

The deputy CM announced that embarkation points for Haj pilgrims will be launched in Vijayawada for the convenience of the Haj pilgrims.

A meeting of the State Haj Committee was held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, chaired by the deputy CM and attended by film actor Ali, AP Haj Committee chairman Sheikh Gausal Lazam, minority finance corporation chairman Shaikh Asif, Vijayawada mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, eastern constituency incharge Devineni Avinash and YSRC city president Bhava Kumar.

Amzath Basha said Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy remained forever in the hearts of all the minorities and they remembered his welfare schemes. CM Jagan has given ample opportunities to the minorities in politics right from deputy CM post to corporators, he said.

The deputy CM said no other state in the history of Indian politics has given such a recognition of minorities. Andhra Pradesh is the only state that has designed a sub-plan for the minorities. This apart, Urdu is recognised as the second language in the state.

Actor Ali said the CM was supporting the Muslims in all possible ways. “The launch of the embarkation point is a good gesture by the government to help the Haj pilgrims. There is a Haj House for Haj pilgrims in Nampally in Telangana state. Similarly, very soon a Haj House will be coming up in AP as well,” he said.

AP Haj Committee chairman Sheikh Gausal Lazam said that the Haj pilgrimage would begin in the next two months. “This programme was organised to make people know the importance of Haj. We shall meet chief minister Jagan to discuss the launch of the Haj House in AP,” he added.
