Mysuru: Noted litterateur Dr S.L. Bhyrappa has voiced his opposition to development projects being planned atop Chamundi hills and the proposed four-laning of the road to the Hills.
Speaking to media persons he said, “Politicians think Chamundi hills is a tourism or pilgrim centre. Who gave them the power to convert a pilgrimage centre into a tourism centre? Commercialisation of a pilgrimage centre, will only reduce the inflow of devotees. Enhancing revenue should not be the sole motive.”
He said except for one or two shops to sell pooja items and a couple of hotels, other commercial establishments atop Chamundi hills should be closed.
