Uttar Pradesh IPS officer scales Mount Everest
She scaled the Mount Everest in her third attempt.
Lucknow: IPS officer of UP cadre, Aparna Kumar added another feather in her crowded cap when she became the first civil servant to scale the Mount Everest on Saturday.
Aparna’s husband and Allahabad district magistrate, Sanjay Kumar, told reporters that Aparna is the first all-India service officer (male or female) to scale the highest peak of six out of seven continents. She scaled the Mount Everest in her third attempt.
“She unfurled the Tricolour along with the flag of UP Police at the summit. It is a proud moment for the nation and UP Police”, Aparna’s husband Sanjay Kumar said.
Sanjay Kumar, adding that Aparna is already on her way back to camp 4 and it will be two days before she is within communication range.
Aparna, in the past, has undertaken multiple expeditions and has scaled peaks in Antarctica, including Mount Vinson Massif, and Mount Kilimanjaro in South Africa.
She plans to scale Mount Mckinley in Alaska in July this year. She was also, earlier this year, awarded the Rani Laxmi Bai Award for Bravery, by the Government of UP.
