Army inter-command competition at Wellington

The 10-km cross country run began at Thangaraj stadium and passed through the ups and downs of Wellington cantonment to culminate the stadium.

Ooty: The ‘Inter-Command Cross Country Championship’ for army men was held at the army centre at Wellington on Tuesday. Thangaraj stadium at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) at Wellington near here, witnessed a stupendous display of stamina, speed and agility when six teams falling under the Army Sports Control Board competed for the coveted Army Inter Command Cross Country Championship 2018-19 on Tuesday. Each team comprised six runners.

The 10-km cross country run began at Thangaraj stadium and passed through the ups and downs of Wellington cantonment to culminate the stadium. Sepoy Anil Kumar Yadav of Central Command clocked the best timings of 31.56 minutes, Naib Subedar Karan Singh of Southern Command and Sepoy Sunder Singh of Central Command followed with 32.00 minutes and 32.01 minutes respectively, to claim individual medals.    

The overall championship trophy was bagged by Central Command, with Southern Command and Eastern Command at second and third  position respectively.

Brig. S.K. Sangwan, Commandant of the MRC, gave away the prizes to the winners, it was stated in a release issued by the MRC.
