TIRUPATI: To promote sustainable waste management practices in the temple city, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) in collaboration with Tirupati Smart City Corporation Limited launched an RRR (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) as part of the ‘Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar’ campaign in Tirupati on Tuesday.

After inaugurating the RRR centre at Annamaiah Circle, MCT commissioner D. Haritha stressed the need for recycling and reusing waste materials.

She urged residents to embrace the RRR approach not only for the present but also for the future, citing the serious issue of rising garbage output in the city.

“The RRR centre serves as a comprehensive solution for denizens to promote sustainable waste management practices and contribute to a cleaner and greener town”, she added. The commissioner urged stakeholders to create awareness in their localities, promoting a sense of civic responsibility and environmental consciousness. "The main goal of the RRR centre is to create a cleaner and healthier environment, ultimately improving the quality of life for people”, Haritha added.

Residents can donate unneeded household items such as clothes, shoes, books, newspapers, toys, and plastic to a reuse or recycling site as part of the RRR campaign. It aspires to build a zero-waste ecosystem and develop a cleaner and greener urban India by instilling environmentally friendly behaviours in individuals, the commissioner said.
