Kerala High Court raps state on ADGP Tomin Thachankary
The government had demanded two more weeks to file a reply to the allegations.
Kochi: The Kerala High Court refused to grant time sought by the state to file a reply on the allegations levelled against ADGP Tomin J. Thachankary. The court asked the state to file a reply by June 28. The government had demanded two more weeks to file a reply to the allegations. Ten days have already been granted, the court observed and asked if the government was waiting until June 30. DGP T.P. Senkumar, who was reinstated as per a Supreme Court order, is set to retire on June 30.
The High Court, meanwhile, expressed displeasure against the state for not properly responding to the allegation that ADGP Tomin J. Thachankary, who is facing criminal charges, was appointed at the police headquarters to keep state police chief T.P. Senkumar under check. Terming the allegation as seriou, the HC adjourned the hearing. The court was considering a public interest litigation filed by Jose Thomas of Vezhapra in Alappuzha against Mr Thachankary’s appointment as head of police headquarters. The mass transfers effected immediately before the reinstatement of Mr Senkumar is being considered by the court.
