Kottayam: Former Supreme Court judge Justice K.T. Thomas has asked the judges to take an unbiased stand on the disputes between journlists and lawyers in the state.    Justice Thomas told DC that the fighting  between journalists and lawyers over the media publishing an alleged sexual offence case against a lawyer was unfortunate.

“The issue should not be allowed to worsen. Both the parties are justifying their stand. However, I have asked some of  the judges not to take sides though they have graduated as judges from the lawyers. They should uphold their independence and exercise their powers impartially,” he said.

Though  the lawyers and the mediapersons  had reacted emotionally, the judges should keep cool and  uphold the values of their office, he said. He pointed out that  television channels were giving a one-sided version aainst the  lawyers who were not getting enough space in the discussions. “The  media must be fair in the matter,” he said.
