BCs seek more seats in residential schools
Hyderabad: The Backward Classes Students' Association demanded the state government to increase intake in BC government residential schools across the state as large number of BC students were not getting seats due to availability of limited seats in these schools.
Association general secretary Vemula Ramakrishna said that due to the 'merit-based' selection process adopted by the government to select students, BC students who are financially-weak and studied in government schools were losing seats to others in residential schools.
He demanded the state government to sanction additional sections in all BC residential schools to ensure seats for all eligible BC students who submit applications.
Ramakrishna said that BC residential schools offer free education from Class V and majority of the BC students who are getting seats in these schools based on merit are those who studied in private schools till Class IV.
