Clean and Green AP programme appreciated at UN, says official
VIJAYAWADA: United Nations Special Consultative Status member Shakin Kumar said representatives of the World Bank at the United Nations have praised the Clean and Green Andhra Pradesh programme.
An initiative of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the programme is being run throughout AP by the municipal department.
Shakin Kumar pointed out that many people have visited the photo exhibition organised at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Clean and Green AP. In particular, they appreciated using green autos for garbage collection.
The UN representative said representatives of the World Bank have appreciated that these autos commissioned by the municipal department of Andhra Pradesh are separating wet and dry garbage and collecting the same for disposal.
Shakin Kumar said the World Bank officials welcomed the idea of the AP government offering autos to women, which is helping them earn their livelihoods.
Permanent Diplomatic Academic Representative to the United Nations in New York Bill Graham said the concept of houses for the poor is well-liked. He said several representatives from various countries have hailed the AP government for providing a clean environment to people through the Clean Andhra Pradesh programme.
