KAKINADA: The Poura Samkshema Sangham convener, Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju, has demanded that the Endowments department take steps to protect the land belonging to the temples.

He alleged that the land of the famous God Sri Bhavanarayana Swamy temple at Sarpavaram in Kakinada district is being encroached upon by others, but the temple authorities are not able to protect it.

Ramana Raju said that if the Endowments department is unable to protect the land, it should be auctioned and the proceeds should be deposited in the temple's account permanently. He said that the interest income from the deposits can be used to develop the temple.

He warned that if the department does not take action, the land mafia will continue to encroach on the land without fear of any consequences.
