Crime Branch to probe murder by tipper lorry
The local police say that there was a fight among both parties on the day of the murder.
THRISSUR: Acting on the complaint filed by the twin brother of Pellissery Libin, who was allegedly murdered near Silver Storm amusement park by ramming a tipper lorry into his moving bike in February, Chalakkdy DySP has forwarded a proposal to Rural SP for handing over the case to Crime Branch (CB). Libin’s twin brother, Linto, who was driving the bike when the tipper rammed the vehicle on the fateful day had filed a complaint with the DGP alleging that the local police were not effectively inquiring into the conspiracy that led to the alleged murder.
The ongoing feud between the family of the deceased with people residing near his house over a proposed land transaction at Pullingara near Athirappally had led to the alleged murder. “The first accused in the murder case, Koyikkara Sunny who drove the tipper and second accused Kuttikkadan Prince, who assisted Sunny in tracing the bike driven by us, are presently out on bail. They have been threatening me. Even after repeated requests, the local police did not probe the conspiracy angle for including the proposed buyer and the broker in the land deal as accused,” Linto has said in his complaint to the DGP.
He told DC that there was an agreement in 2011 to sell six cents of land and the house of his family, but the buyers kept on extending the deadline to make the final payment. “When they asked for an extension for the fourth time, we withdrew from the deal which led to enmity with those who murdered my brother and our family,” Linto said. Chalakkudy DySP A Shahul Hameed who collected the statement of Linto on Friday over the complaint he filed with the DGP said that the local police did not find a conspiracy angle as alleged nor did they have problems in CB taking over the probe.
“I have written to the SP,” he said. The local police say that there was a fight among both parties on the day of the murder and the twin brothers had broken the windshield of a car and glass panel of window of the accused persons which led to the sudden provocation. Linto has also alleged that the Kuttikkad Farmer’s Bank in his locality had taken over his six cents of land and house through illegal means without holding a public auction and the property was currently with the relatives of the accused. He had pledged the property for a loan availed from the bank and a civil case was also going on. He also refuted the ‘sudden provocation’ theory of the local police claiming that his family had been harassed by the alleged murderers since 2011.
