Ashram on Ganga bank was on cards for Madhan
He had identified the property and had purchased a farmhouse, which was being converted into an ashram at a cost of Rs 75 lakh.
Chennai: Vendhar movies S. Madhan had plans to start an ashram on the banks of Ganga in Uttarakhand. He had identified the property and had purchased a farmhouse, which was being converted into an ashram at a cost of Rs 75 lakh.
Had it materialised, Madhan would have moved into the ashram which he would use as his front and spend the rest of his life with his girlfriends. Hiding behind the character of a sage in a pilgrim centre would have been an added advantage.
“We have been enumerating the properties which Madhan had acquired through his benamis after he went missing on May 28. We would also be examining the role of his women friends,” said a senior police official. The film producer, who was traced to Tirupur on Sunday evening, is also wanted in a multi-crore medical seat scam being pursued against him.
Sources said Madhan traveled to Haridwar with his friend Geethanjali and her friend, Sekar. She was the one who was looking after Madhan, and his eyes and ears from Chennai.
He sent her back, warning her that not to contact him over the phone in order to ensure there was no digital trail which could lead to him. The arrangement for their communication is that she would fly to Colombo in order to make calls to Madhan on scheduled dates. This way they ensured that their conversations were kept off the City Police's radar.
He first saw her in a pub, and helped her get a medical seat for a friend. It took a while for the cops to fix Geethanjali as Madhan's source in the City. She was living with an accused implicated in a credit card fraud case and enlarged on conditional bail. Cops traced her roommate when he came to sign his bail register in Nagapattinam. After this, they got to Geethanjali who tipped off about the property purchase in Roorkee, which helped the cops make further headway in the case.
