Chennai: RPF constable lauded for saving man's life

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), in its recent report, has criticised the railways for failing to run superfast trains as per their schedules.

Chennai: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable earned laurels for rescuing a passenger trapped between the platform and a moving train.

Pramod Singh is an RPF constable attached to Basin bridge railway station. He was escorting Pothigai Express train from Chennai Egmore railway station on Monday.

Around at 9 pm, Pramod Singh saw a male passenger, who was trying to board the moving train had fallen down and was stuck between train and platform.

Sensing the potential danger, Pramod Singh rushed and pulled the passenger out, thus saving his life. CCTV footage released by RPF shows the constable running along the train and pulling the man out after trying multiple times.

Naveen Gulaati, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Chennai division, lauded the constable and handed over a certificate of appreciation on Wednesday.
