HC Stays Constables' Recruitment
Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court granted stay on the notification pertaining to the recruitment of police constables. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Anil Kumar, was dealing with a batch of writ petitions challenging the notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) with respect to the recruitment. Senior counsel G. Vidya Sagar, appearing on behalf of the petitioners, contended that more than 5000 posts were initially divided between two adjoining districts. He further stated that instead of issuing a merit list, the results declared were bifurcated among 27 districts. The petitioner also sought for a direction to the Telangana State level police recruitment board (TSLPRB) to declare the cut-off marks with reference to contagious district cadre as a single unit. The special government pleader undertook before the court that no further selection will take place till the appeal challenging the notification is decided.
Frame scheme for Assembly employees: HC
A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court on Thursday required the state government to frame a scheme for employees working in the Legislative Assembly/Secretariat. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, directed the state Assembly and the finance department to regularise the post of G. Rama Devi and four others. The order came to be passed in a writ plea filed by the said persons challenging the action of the state in contemplating to terminate their services as typists in spite of regular vacancies. They further contended that their services were engaged between 1987 and 1995. The bench directed that the position of the typists working for special committees must be regularised and further directed the government to dispose of the representation given by the petitioners within four weeks after due consideration.
HC directs survey of pipeline lands in Nalgonda
Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court directed the Tthsildar and state authorities to survey the land acquired by the government at Sangaram in Nalgonda district, for laying a drinking water pipeline. The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by one K. Venkat Reddy, alleging that the state functionaries were interfering with the possession of land of the petitioners in Sy No 169/4 at Sangaram village, Peddavoora mandal for laying drinking water pipeline without any notice or opportunity and without paying compensation, which was illegal. The petitioner stated that the government had initially acquired 18 guntas of the land admeasuring 28 guntas. But under its guise, the authorities were encroaching upon the neighbouring lands. On the other hand, the respondents stated that they were laying pipelines only on the land acquired and were not encroaching on the petitioner’s land. On hearing the parties at length, the court directed the respondents to survey the entire land of 28 Gts acquired by the government as well as that of the petitioner and to clearly demarcate the land of the petitioner.
GHMC demolition: HC closes write
Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court closed a writ complaining of illegal construction at Balanagar. The judge was hearing a writ plea filed by Madam Satyanarayana, who alleged that representations to the GHMC complaining of alleged illegal construction by Sri Chamakura Rajashekar Reddy at plot nos: 64/P, 65 and 66 in Sy No 54, 55, and 56 situated at Samatha Swarnadhama nagar, Balanagar mandal. GHMC argued that a show cause notice was issued upon the complaint of the petitioner and after passing speaking orders, authorities had demolished the structure. The judge, after hearing both the parties, closed the writ petition.
