Congress for Probe Into Corruption in Karimnagar Smart City Works

Karimnagar: City Congress president K. Narendar Reddy demanded the government conduct an inquiry into the corruption of Rs 130 crores in the Smart City works taken up under the limits of the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) as alleged by BRS ex-mayor S. Ravinder Singh.

Seeking action against the officials and leaders responsible for the scandal, Narendar, along with party leaders, on Saturday submitted a representation to district collector Pamela Satpathy at the collectorate here urging her to probe the irregularities in the road works, beautification of junctions and construction of drainage taken up under the Smart City project in Karimnagar.

Stating that he would take the issue to the notice of ministers D. Sridhar Babu and P. Prabhakar, he also demanded an inquiry into the illegal sale of electrical poles as scrap and the encroachment of government land in survey number 71 at Sitarampur village. He wanted the government to conduct a digital survey of the prime land worth crores and protect it from land sharks by erecting fencing around it.

Congress leaders Dr Anjan Kumar, Md. Taaz, K. Arun Kumar, Shravan Naik, Abdul Rehman, K. Anil Kumar, Irfan, R. Satish, K. Pochaiah, Mohammad Bari, Shaik Haseena and Basheer accompanied him.
