Kozhikode: Eleven municipal councillors booked
The municipality is being governed by a coalition of the CPM and Congress.
MALAPPURAM: The Kondotty Police has registered cases against 11 municipal councillors in connection with a fight between the members during the council meeting last week. Five opposition members were booked based on a complaint by municipal chairman C.K. Nadikutty. The case against the other six members was based on a counter complaint filed by councillor K.C Sheeba. Seven members had been injured during a heated council meeting which ended up in a fight between two factions of councillors on Saturday.
The municipality is being governed by a coalition of the CPM and Congress. The Muslim League is on the opposition bench. The uproar was regarding the alleged irregularities in the minutes of earlier council meetings. The opposition had alleged that some of the decisions taken by the council were missing from the documents of the meeting but the ruling party rejected the accusation and instead and blamed officers. After mediation talks led by Kondotty M.L.A, T.V Ibrahim, both the factions have decided to resolve the issues regarding verbal abuse and both were approached by police to resolve other complaints.
