Student falls to death
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, Goutham Laxmi Srikar, a 12-year-old visually challenged boy, accidentally fell from the fourth floor of Devnar School For The Blind at Mayuri Marg and died, Begumpet police station on Thursday. Srikar, a resident of SR Nagar is studying in the school.
According to police, at about 12 noon on Thursday, when the boy was in his class in the fourth floor of the school building, his caretaker went to relieve herself.
A few minutes later when she came back she found the boy missing and started searching for him along with the staff. They found him lying in a pool of blood on the ground below.
He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead. Begumpet inspector P. Srinivas Rao said that they had registered a case. The case is being investigated into all angles, he said.
Inquiries revealed that Srikar's parents admitted him to the institute six months ago. As he was also facing other issues, they requested the management and admitted him with a caretaker's support.
"We were hopeful that if he would move with other children, there would be improvement but did not expect such worse thing would come upon us, " they told police.
Meanwhile, police also found that repairs were going on in the fifth floor of the building and suspect if the boy went upstairs and fell from there. "We are in the process of verifying CCTV footage on the premises. Accordingly, the investigation will proceed," the inspector added.
