Hyderabad: To  commemorate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and to instill patriotic spirit amongst  the civil populace including school children, a wreath laying ceremony was  organised at Veerula Sainik Smarak, Army Parade Ground, Secunderabad on  Saturday.

Held by the 1 EME (Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) Centre under the aegis of the Telangana and Andhra Sub  Area headquarters, the event was attended by Army dignitaries, defence veterans, Tollywood  actor Ram Charan Teja, Dr Ramakrishna Rao Ramisetty, associate director, commercials, at Indian School of Business (ISB) and children from schools in the city.

Wreaths  were laid by the attendees to pay homage to the fallen heroes who made  supreme sacrifice while fighting for the motherland. Brigadier Suresh G,  Commandant, 1 EME Centre, interacted with the defence veterans, civil dignitaries and the schoolchildren.

The schoolchildren were also presented with books and comics on the lives of those who had been conferred the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime bravery award.
