Anantapur: 1,000 rowdy-sheeters come forward to donate their eyes

Anantapur: At least 1,000 rowdy sheeters and their family members gave their consent to donate eyes after death as part of a drive launched by SP Ake Ravi Krishna in Kurnool district. The rowdy sheeters and history sheeters from all parts of the district participated in a meeting organised at Vyas Auditorium at Kurnool on Thursday.

Mr Ravi Krishna had launched a drive to enroll at least one lakh people from Kurnool district to give consent for donating their eyes. The SP organised a meeting with the rowdy sheeters and history sheeters along with their family members to make them part in the drive and about 1000 persons including rowdy sheeters and their family members expressed their consent to donate eyes.

Meanwhile, the police staff at various levels including sub-divisional officers, circle inspectors, sub inspectors and cops came forward and gave consent to donate eyes. The drive to enroll one lakh donors is scheduled to complete in 10 days in six police sub-divisions in Kurnool district, the SP said.
