Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday refused bail to R. Shravil, prime accused in the accident case in which 10-year-old Ramya, her uncle and grandfather were killed, on July 1 this year.

Justice C. Praveen Kumar was dealing with the petition by R. Shravil seeking release on bail. Counsel for the petitioner told the court that his client was in judicial custody for over a month and his continuation in custody was affecting his education. He is an engineering student.

He contended that the keeping the petitioner for over one month would not only hamper his education but would also adversely affect his future as he is still in his twenties. Counsel also said that the trial court has rejected Shravil’s bail plea twice.

TS principal public prosecutor Pratap Reddy, while opposing the bail, submitted that Shravil faces charges under IPC section 304-Part II after police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

While stating that the petitioner had driven the car without possessing driving licence, the prosecutor urged the court not to grant bail as investigation in the case was still on.

During the investigation it was revealed that the petitioner was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred and his rash and negligent driving resulted in the car crash which took three lives, including that of Ramya.

Ramya, who was injured in the accident, was admitted to NIMS and later shifted to Care Hospital where doctors put her on life support. Her uncle Rajesh died on the spot and her mother Radhika, grandfather Madhusudhan Rao and uncle

Ramesh, travelling in the same car, also suffered serious injuries. While considering the arguments, the judge refused bail.
