Pondicherry Assembly budget session from today
The government had sought an additional grant of Rs 1,200 crore apart from the proposed outlay of Rs 6,465 by the state planning board.
PUDUCHERRY: The budget session of Puducherry Assembly is to start on August 24. Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, who also holds the finance portfolio, would present the first budget of Congress government on August 29.
According to reports, the new government may present a full budget this time unlike the previous N. Rangasamy government which presented only an interim budget (vote-on-account).
Narayanasamy had sought funds to the tune of Rs. 7,665 crore towards total outlay for annual budget during his meeting with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The government had sought an additional grant of Rs 1,200 crore apart from the proposed outlay of Rs 6,465 by the state planning board. The additional grant will include Rs 1,000 crore towards grants and Rs 200 crore as loans.
The Chief Minister had also held a series of discussions with various departments on their requirements. The session will begin with the customary address of Lt Governor Kiran Bedi.
