KOZHIKODE: Well-known music band Avial will join hands with the young and trendy When Chai Met Toast and the Bengaluru-based Parvaaz on Sunday for the Chaliyar River Challenge.  The third edition of the river festival is organised this year also with an aim to create awareness against waste dumping in waters, using the medium of music that attracts youngsters. Organisers expect more than 1,000 participants for the event at the Malabar Marina Convention Centre to join their mission to save rivers in the state from the human-made catastrophe.

“Unlike the previous years we planned to bring the country's best bands in independent music because this genre will reach out to more people,” said Arpan Thejas, one of the organisers. "This is just an event connected to our major programme ‘Chaliyar River competition’, a three-day international kayaking camp envisaged by the Clean River initiative in association with Jellyfish Watersports, based in Kozhikode. Soon after the kayakers sail through the Chaliyar River cleaning it and end their kayaking, the music fest will begin."
