Plea to bring Kunavaram under 41.5 contour

KAKINADA: The people of merged Kunavaram mandal have pleaded with the state government to bring it into 41.5 contour limits of the Polavaram project. A team  led by mandal ZPTC Gujji Vijay submitted a representation to Alluri Seetharamaraju district collector Sumit, on Friday.

The team urged him to pay compensation of Rs 10,000 per per affected family as the people there lost all their possessions in the Godavari floods. They also requested the government to provide implements free of cost to farmers to pursue agriculture activities. A request was also made to waive their loans in society, saying the farmers incurred heavy losses due to the iterations of floods in the past three years. 

The team also pleaded that medical labs be set up in the community health centre and roads be re-developed in the area.
