Replicate NY’s Central Park in Kokapet: KTR
HYDERABAD: While inspecting development works at the Neopolis Layout in Kokapet, being developed by HMDA, on Saturday, minister K.T. Rama Rao asked officials to develop a park on the lines of Central Park in New York.
Rama Rao told engineers at the site that as it was a greenfield project (started from scratch), there was great potential to build world class facilities. He suggested a few modifications in plans for road networks, recreation facilities, and cycle tracks. He said a cycle track connecting Gandipet lake should also be built in such a way that international events too can be conducted on it.
The minister also conducted a surprise inspection of the under-construction sewage treatment plant in Fatehnagar and inspected development works at Neopolis Layout in Kokapet, being developed by the HMDA, on Saturday.
Sewage water from Balanagar, Jeedimetla, Kukatpally, Suraram and Jagadgirgutta would be treated at the STP in Fatehnagar. The works on the STP are expected to be completed by the summer of 2023.
Rama Rao flagged off six safety protocol team (SPT) vehicles in Nallagandla, which were procured under corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. The HMWS&SB has launched these to ensure safety precautions are maintained at its worksites such as pipeline works, correcting leakages, manholes repairs etc. SPTs have been formed for six circles. Each team will have an engineer, a constable and a Home Guard. A Chief Vigilance Officer is in charge of all the teams.
Rama Rao was accompanied by HMWS&SB managing director M. Dana Kishore and special chief secretary, MA&UD and HMDA commissioner Arvind Kumar.
