Cauvery issue: Tamil Nadu Cabinet to meet today

Chennai: Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam, allotted the portfolios of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa after her hospitalisation, will chair his second Cabinet meeting on Monday.

The agenda of the meeting has not been revealed, but it is understood that the Cabinet might discuss Cauvery and other important issues facing the state. The meeting would also discuss appointment of Special Officers for local bodies after Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao promulgated an ordinance in this regard.

The Cabinet meeting comes in the backdrop of the Cauvery issue on which the Opposition parties are demanding that the Tamil Nadu government lead a delegation to the Prime Minister demanding constitution of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
