Kollam: The relatives of the girl who died on Monday after she jumped from the third storey of the Trinity Lyceum school on Friday alleged medical negligence by the Benziger hospital here where she was taken first.  The hospital authorities did not give her proper treatment for at  least three  hours, they said.     The girl,  Gauri Neha of standard 10-A division,  was taken to the hospital within half- an- hour of the incident that occurred at 1.30 p.m.  However, the hospital authorities did not consider the possibilities of internal bleeding though they found fractures in her ribs and skull.

The girl  who was  brought to the hospital by 2 p.m. on Friday,  was not given treatment until 5 p.m. The hospital authorities allegedly referred the girl to another hospital after the relatives protested. She died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.  On the fateful day of October 20, Gauri Neha of Standard 10 A division went to meet her younger sister studying in 8 B and entered into a wordy duel with another student of the same class, Trinity Lyceum Principal S. John told DC.

“The girl along with her friends went to Standard 10 A and they had an argument with Gauri. Seeing this, the class teacher of Standard 8 B, Sindhu, asked the students to disperse. She demanded that Gauri meet the Principal which she refused,” he said. Standard 10 A class teacher Crescent noticed Gauri was not in class while marking attendance and asked a few students to trace her. “It was found that the girl had fallen off the building" and was taken to hospital soon after, he added.
