GHMC Union Leader Suspended

Hyderabad: Hyderabad district electoral officer (DEO) Ronald Rose suspended Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation union leader U. Gopal.  

Gopal had recently shifted his loyalty from the BJP to the BRS. According to the officials of the district election authority, he was seen meeting with the ruling party leaders. Government personnel meeting with political party representatives after the elections have been called is a violation of the model code of conduct.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Gopal objected to the suspension. He said that  he was not wearing a BRS kanduva; he was wearing the kanduva of the Telangana Rashtra Trade Union which is also pink in colour.
