Rain discomfort continues for Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Rains continued to lash Hyderabad throughout Friday night, and is expected to further spread to northern parts of the state and likely to reduce from Saturday.

The impact of rain on traffic and low-lying areas was comparatively mild, but some stretches in Jubilee Hills, Yousufguda, Goshamahal and Nampally were water logged and tree branches fell in some parts of the city.  

In some areas, including Brindavan Colony in ToliChowki, Chintal Basti in Khairatabad and parts of Chandrayangutta, some stretches were waterlogged but water was drained out by Friday morning.

Early on Friday, the GHMC’s DRF teams cleared 22 water-logging points in different parts of the city and cleared the catch pits too.  The tree branches were also cleared by them.

According to officials,  temperatures in Hyderabad fell to below normal levels, by more than 3­° Celsius. Hanamkonda, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Ramagundam districts saw temperatures dropping between 3­° Celsius and 5­° Celsius. Minimum temperatures in Hyderabad hovered between 18­° Celsius and 21­° Celsius on Friday.

According to TS Development Planning Society data, Siddipet, Hanmakonda, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Karimnagar and Warangal and parts of Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Rajanna-Sircilla districts are expected to receive moderate rains, while the rest of the state will see light and scattered rains.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are very likely to occur at isolated places over Hyderabad, Jangaon, Karimnagar, Medak, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri for the next two days.

 IMD said it could impact minor damage to loose or unsecured structures and advised to keep a watch on weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
