System for Aadhar-based' healthcare
The Aadhar' number allows the identification of an individual using a number, which is unique to that individual.
Coimbatore: A healthcare system, which integrates all patient information and is accessible from any location in the country has been developed by a team of five doctors and students from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and PSG College of Technology here.
The team comprising Rohanti Revikulan, R. S. Dhayananth, G. Kasinath, J. Prayadeesh and S. Prakash worked constantly for ten days at a stretch to come up with ‘VAIDHIA’ software (Visionary Aadhaar Integrated Digitalised Health Information Access), which they plan to make a presentation to the Central government officials.
With the existing digitalized system there is a very little room for portability of patient information between healthcare facilities, let alone between states. Often, this causes hardship to the healthcare professionals in terms of providing good healthcare with very little or no information at all, said Rohanti Revikulan.
The ‘Aadhar’ number allows the identification of an individual using a number, which is unique to that individual. Attaching the ‘Aadhar’ number to a patient’s health information gives way for easy access and portability, which in turn allows for a more patient-specific approach to treatment.
