In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, the government had proposed to build one lakh houses. Ahead of the recent elections, the BRS government handed over allotment letters for 65,000 dwelling units.

The mega housing project in Kollur that comprises 15,600 dwelling units is yet to be occupied and works related to electricity and related infrastructure are underway.

Many beneficiaries speaking to Deccan Chronicle expressed the fear that the new government would not  hand over possession to the beneficiaries and would draw up a fresh list of allottees.

"I was handed over the allotment letter ahead of the elections, but till date we have not received the key," said Prema K.

"Will the newly elected government change the list of beneficiaries or cancel the allotments done under the BRS regime,” she asked anxiously.  She had applied for a house from Amberpet mandal and was allotted a house in Maheshwaram.

N.L. Kumari, a beneficiary from Saidabad mandal, said that works related to illumination were pending in the dwelling unit that she was allotted.

"I received the keys ahead of the elections , but I was told by the officer who gave me the keys and other beneficiaries to wait until the works related to illumination are completed," she said.
