Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday conceded that unemployed youth and employees,  who constitute a major chunk of voters, had chosen ‘another option’ in the Assembly elections.

This happened even after the BRS government had spent more funds in providing employment, Rao said.

He was speaking at an event to release a ‘White paper’ on how the BRS government had handled the economy. He said that even after they had provided jobs to youth, employees had chosen the alternatives to the BRS. He said this became apparent when the party was reviewing its failure in the Assembly elections.

He said the difference in total voting share was only 1.5 per cent and in eight constituencies BRS candidates had lost by a margin of 4,000 votes.

“We will apply corrective measures and continue in the public domain to highlight the Congress' failures,” Rao said.

Releasing the white paper, the former IT minister said that the Congress government had deliberately made false statements on BRS government’s expenditure and debts. He said that the per capita income had gone up and poverty rate had fallen during their tenure.

He said the budget deficit, including loans was Rs 3.17 lakh crore only but the Congress government put it at Rs 6.71 lakh crore. He said the money was used to create assets in electricity and irrigation, among others, whose value he put at Rs 50 lakh crore.
