R Sukesan bats for further probe into bargate
Sukesan submitted that VACB had seized 42 important documents.
Kochi: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau SP R. Sukesan, former investigating officer in the bar bribe case, on Tuesday submitted before the Kerala High Court that the investigation has to be carried out from ‘different angles’ to unearth the truth in the case. Former finance minister K. M. Mani is an accused in the case. The final report was submitted on January 13, 2016. However, there were allegations that the report was not comprehensive and the special judge ordered a further probe on October 29, he submitted.
The VACB filed the statement after the court asked it to inform the ground or circumstances on the basis of which further investigation for the second time was sought. The HC issued the interim order on the petition filed by Mr K.M. Mani seeking to quash the order of Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance special judge granting permission for a further probe into the case. Mr Sukesan submitted that as part of the present investigation, the VACB had seized 42 important documents.
The hard disc containing the accounts of the Kerala Bar Hotel Owners Association and a smart phone and an SD card containing the conversation of bar owners were forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram. “The hard disc and SD card are crucial evidence in the case and these are helpful to unfold the truth of the case,” he said. The report from the FSL was not yet received. Besides, a request has been sent to the Hi-Tec cell to conduct a CDR analysis.
