Kerala actor molestation: Goon sticks to blackmail story
Cops fail to recover phone used by accused
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing abduction and sexual assault of a prominent actor is yet to get any lead regarding involvement of a third party in the crime as they failed to recover the mobile phone allegedly used by the gang to shoot the assault despite subjecting key accused ‘Pulsar Suni’ to interrogation for nearly a day. Suni told investigating officers that he had thrown away the mobile phone soon after the incident on February 17 midnight in a canal near Vennala bypass. Cops failed to recover anything despite a detailed search there.
The SIT completed evidence collection exercise early in the morning when they took Suni and his aide Vijesh through the route which they had driven the car after abducting the actress. “The exercise lasted from 2.50 am to 4.45 am and evidence was collected from nine places. However we couldn’t find the mobile phone,” said a police officer The key accused throughout his interrogation reiterated that he abducted the actress with the intention of blackmailing her and exhorting Rs 50 lakh. He further told cops he intended to lead a “comfortable” life with his girlfriend and never expected the actor to approach police. He said he told the actress about the act being a “quotation” to mislead her.
“We’ve not yet bought any of the statements of Suni. Still both the “quotation” and the blackmailing angles are open and his further interrogation is vital for taking the inquiry forward,” said Aluva DySP K.G. Babu Kumar. The cops also encountered Suni with whom he had visited after committing the crime, the CCTV recording of which was out. However, Suni said he went to the house of his friend there but could not meet him after the failed to respond to his calls. He also visited a female friend based in Kadavanthra before leaving to Alapuzha. The cops have taken both the friend and his girl friend into custody to know about the mobile phone.
