TD leader Ayyanna demands recall of AU VC
Visakhapatnam: Former minister and TD politburo member Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu has sought action and recall of Andhra University Vice Chancellor Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy. “He is working as a YSRC party worker and organising campaign meeting for the ruling party candidate in the MLC elections.”
Addressing the media here on Friday, Ayyanna Patrudu said Andhra University, which would be celebrating its centenary in another three years, was once headed by former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. “The image of this great university has been brought down during the last three years of the YSRC term. Many illegal activities were taking place there. On Feb 12, ganja packets were found on the campus. Even GVMC elections were supervised from the university campus.”
“Whenever I take up the issue, I get threatening calls.,’’ Patrudu said.
He said recently the vice-chancellor organised a meeting with the managements of private colleges and demanded that they work for the victory of the official YSRC candidate. A complaint was lodged with the election commission and the district collector. The election commission responded but not the collector, the former minister said.
Demanding his recall, Ayyanna said the vice chancellor should not be present in the region till the elections were over. He also asked the opposition parties, particularly the BJP, to respond on this issue.
