Hyderabad: Three arrested for engaging in betting
The cops, who recovered Rs 1.5 lakh, handed over the accused along with the seized property to the Asif Nagar Police for further action.
Hyderabad: The West Zone task force team nabbed three persons for engaging in illegal betting and collecting money from punters across the twin cities.
The accused, identified as Rajesh Singh, Neeraj Singh and Laxmikanth Varma, were allegedly collecting and distributing money from nearly 25 to 30 punters in the twin cities for the last six months.
During the match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday, they were engaging in betting when the task force team raided the residence of the accused at Asif Nagar in Hyderabad.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radha Kishan Rao, said, “We have seized a TV, and a book which was used to write cricket betting amounts, along with mobile which were used for cricket betting.”
