Hold TSRTC union elections within three months, orders HC

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the state government to hold elections for recognised union in TSRTC within three months.

Elections were last held in 2016 and the term of the recognised union had ended by 2018. Taking objection to the inordinate delay in holding polls, the CPI-affiliated Employees Union (EU) approached the High Court.

EU counsel A.K. Jaya Prakash Rao brought to the notice of the court that none of the authorities, including special CS, labour department, labour commissioner nor the corporation managing director had responded to their plea to hold polls. This government is denying employees of their right to choose their representatives, he said.

Justice S. Nanda directed the government to hold elections within three months and adjourned the case.
