Pudota Neelima who summitted the Mount Everest

Guntur: Pudota Neelima has summited the 8,160 meters out of the 8,848 meter highest peak in the world, Mount Everest. She might be the first woman from the newly formed Andhra Pradesh state who achieved this exceptional task.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu offered Rs 15 lakh to mountaineer Neelima towards financial aid for expedition to Mount Everest. It is noteworthy to recall that Ms Neelima is a native of Turakapalem in Guntur district. The software professional’s last expedition to Mount Everest failed due to devastating Nepal avalanche. However, she hadn't given up the mission and prepared for the expedition to Everest in April.

According to her parents, P. Showraiah and Dr Kondaveeti Papa, she is unique in her nature from childhood. Her wish and courage to be different from others made her stand tall today. Her indomitable spirit drove her to achieve this rare feat, they observed.

In fact, she is a multi-talented girl, a professional Bharathanatyam dancer, trained in Kerala martial art Kalaripattu, Yoga practitioner, polyglot, cleared plus-three level in German language.

 She did her B.Tech from MGIT (Hyderabad) in Mechotronics. To conquer the Everest, she gave up her job at Cognizant Technologies. She was at the Everest base camp in April, 2015 earthquake in Nepal. Though the earthquake shook everybody at the Everest, her spirits did not.

While coming down amidst dead bodies and the injured (mainly Sherpas), she made up her mind to summit the Everest, at any cost. On reaching India through official Army’s help, she declared her intention to summit the Everest provided somebody sponsors. The support first came through her maternal uncle and senior Journalist Mr Kondaveeti Jayaprasad.
