Efforts on to acquire land for Mamnoor airport: Collector

Warangal: The district administration is making all its efforts to acquire the additional land required for the establishment of the airport at Mamnoor in Warangal district, said district collector Praveenya on Wednesday.

The collector met panchayat raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao at his camp office and discussed acquiring additional land for the airport.

She apprised the minister of around 253 acres of land in additional sought by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for the development of the A-320 model airport at Mamnoor.

Showing the map designed by the engineers of the roads and buildings department, the collector explained to the minister that around 249.33 acres of land belonging to the farmers of Nakkalapalli, Gadepalli and Mamnoor villages surrounding the Warangal Fort, which is suitable for the development of the airport.

To compensate the farmers, the collector suggested that the government can hand over 373.02 acres of land that is present under the limits of P.V. Narasimha Rao Veterinary University adjacent to Mamnoor village to the concerned tahsildar. In turn, the lands belonging to farmers can be acquired and handed over to the AAI, she added.

The minister told the collector that the issue would be discussed with the concerned authorities and take the initiative forward.
