THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Saturday called for comprehensive probe into counterfeit currency racket involving BJP leader in Kodungaloor. BJP leader Ragesh was arrested with counterfeit currency and printer in Thrissur district two days ago. The BJP leader has indulged in an anti-national act and reports suggest that the gang had international links. He said the incident had exposed the close relations between the counterfeit gang and a section of BJP state leaders.

There are reports that the gang had funded the party before and after elections which makes it clear that a big racket was operating. Kodiyeri said the biggest contradiction was that BJP leaders who launched campaign against the counterfeit currency and black money were found to be having strong links with the counterfeit currency mafia.   The involvement of BJP leader had also exposed the hollowness of Centre’s demonetisation decision. The CPM leader said the only difference was that those who were earlier printing counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1000 denomination were now bringing out Rs 2000 notes.

The police needs to find out the source of counterfeit currency and back money. The accused should not be allowed to take advantage of their close connection with the Central government to get away with the crime. Kodiyeri said the past experience had clearly revealed the connections between the BJP and counterfeit racketeers. The probe should be intensified further to detect the links with BJP and RSS besides locating the main source.
