Kakinada GGH earmarks 100 beds for dengue patients

Hospital has set up a separate 100-bed ward for treating dengue cases, which have been on the rise in the district

Kakinada: As many as 54 persons comprising 11 each men and women, apart from 32 children, are undergoing treatment for dengue at the Government General Hospital here in Kakinada.

The hospital has set up a separate 100-bed ward for treating dengue cases, which have been on the rise in the district following floods and consequent mosquito menace. Sources in Medical and Health Department said nearly 180 dengue cases have been reported in the district so far this year.

Collector Kritika Shukla inspected the medical and surgical blocks of the GGH on Wednesday. She also visited the dengue patients admitted in the hospital. She asked hospital staff to keep all wards and surroundings clean to check the spread of dengue, malaria, typhoid or other seasonal diseases.

Hospital in-charge superintendent Dr. Vijaya Kumar and RMO Dr. Yamuna were among those present.
