Tenali Urban becomes the first Mandal in AP to achieve GER 100
VIJAYAWADA: Tenali Urban became the first mandal in Andhra Pradesh to achieve a Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of 100. This means every child born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2018 in the respective region is enrolled in schools.
Principal Secretary to School Education, Praveen Prakash, said the Department of School Education, with the help of the Village and Ward Secretariat, has undertaken the mission of achieving a GER of 100 per cent.
The department started this drive with the help of volunteers and the Village and Ward Secretariat in July first week. Till now, 59,602 volunteers have achieved the 100 per cent GER badge. Some 464 village secretariats have achieved the status, the highest being Nandayal with 120 secretariats.
The Tenali Urban which has 47 secretariats has become the first Mandal in the state to attain this status.
Praveen Prakash stated, “The positive competition has begun! One mandal will become 10 mandals and 10 mandals will become 100 mandals in a fortnight, and the day is not far when all the 679 mandals will attain the 100% GER badge.”
“When that happens Andhra Pradesh will become the first State to attain 100%GER.”
