Hyderabad: Despite the government declaring a two-day holiday for schools in the twin cities in view of the heavy rain and inundation in some areas, a few schools ignored the directions.
Nearly 40 kids from primary classes of Raghava Concept School in Kukatpally spent anxious moments in the morning when their school van got stuck in water-logged Dharaninagar.
The driver could not turn the vehicle back due to the force of water. Alert locals pushed the vehicle to some distance after which the driver got control of the vehicle.
A few parents were highly critical of the school administration for putting the lives of children at risk in the name of exams even though holidays had been declared.
Ranga Reddy DEO G. Ramesh he would take action against the school.
Ms Anuradha Rao from the Balala Hakkula Sangham demanded stern action against schools that violated government orders.
“TRS MLC Narayana Reddy’s Brilliant School functioned today. A few leading corporate schools ran classes,” she said.
TS Recognised School Managements Association P. Vinay stated that corporate schools in Kukatpally, Quthbullapur and LB Nagar functioned despite instructions.
