Alert railway men avert mishap near Dindigul

Apart from beautification of station premises, drives on garbage handling and disposal, inspections by senior officials and interaction with passengers were held.

Tiruchy: Thanks to the alertness of railway workers, especially the track maintenance wing staff, a major train mishap was averted as they noticed a crack on the track near a railway level crossing at Ilangakurichi on the Tiruchirappalli-Dindigul section, near here in the wee hours of Monday.

Railway sources said, the railway men who were on track patrolling duty noticed the crack and informed about it to their higher-ups at Tiruchy, who rushed to the spot and temporarily set right the faulty track.

The railway staffs’ timely action thus ensured the smooth passage of the Chennai Egmore-Madurai super fast Pandiyan express, Tiruchirappalli-Tirunelveli intercity express and the Madurai-Chennai Egmore super fast Vaigai express.
