Help adivasis overcome haemoglobin problem, collector tells officials

Kakinada: East Godavari district collector Harikiran has asked officials of the Health and Women and Child Welfare departments to jointly attend to the haemoglobin problems among people of the agency area in Yetapaka division.
Reviewing the development works relating to health, education, ICDS, agriculture, irrigation,animal husbandry, fisheries, Vandan Vikas, NREGS, housing etc at ITDA office in Chinturu on Sunday, the collector called for a special drive to increase the haemoglobin levels of people in the agency area. Officials should coordinate matters with the anganwadi centres.
The call was for supply of nutritious food to pregnant women. He expressed satisfaction at institutional deliveries in Primary Health Centers. Along with ITDA project officer Venkataramana and ASP Krishnakanth, he reviewed the functioning of a PHC at Yedugurallapalli and interacted with pregnant women and school children at the government tribal residential school at Chinturu.
Meanwhile, Adivasi Samkshema Parishad general secretary Kumju Srinu submitted a representation to the collector, seeking strict enforcement of the adivasi-related laws. Though a 1/70 Act is in force, illegal constructions are going on in the agency area and the officials were looking the other way, he pointed out.
